Pilates bar kits, bands, gliding discs and folding mats
A board costs more than most of these put together, and for some people the pieces are the better buy. A bar kit gives standing rows, squats and presses with more load than any board's bands. A pair of gliding discs gives the lunges and pikes on any floor with a mat. A folding mat gives the knees something a plastic deck never will. The question is which of the board's jobs you actually want.
Which piece does which job
A board does four things: it slides, it anchors bands, it pads the knees a little, and it keeps your feet in a straight line. Each of these kits does one or two of them.

Latex tube bands are the one consumable in all of this. They stiffen, craze and snap, usually at the carabiner. Check them before a session, keep them out of the sun, and treat a stated lifetime warranty as a promise about the bar. The kits that state their tension (ALongSong, Bbtops, Alignrgy) let you buy a replacement that matches; the ones that do not (Gaiam) leave you guessing.
Discs have their own trap: the plastic face scratches some floors, and the foam face catches on some carpets. A mat or a towel between the disc and the floor solves both and is what the AZURELIFE listing recommends in so many words.
