No board listing talks about the floor it will sit on, the knees that will kneel on it or the life of the bands it ships with. Those are what decide whether it is still in use in March.
The floor
A board wants a hard, flat floor: wood, tile, laminate, vinyl, a low-pile rug at a push. Thick carpet swallows the anti-slip feet and makes the glide pads drag in their track. On the hard floors the opposite problem shows up: the whole board creeps forward during a lunge because twelve small rubber feet are not much grip for a ten-pound shell with an adult pushing off it.
The fix everyone arrives at is a yoga mat under the board. It stops the creep, it protects the floor from the feet, and it gives the knees something when they come off the deck. HomeHarbor sells its board with the mat in the box; everyone else assumes you have one. A folding 12 mm mat like the Stakt or Bala does the same job and doubles as a block.

12 mm folding mat that stacks into a block
Stakt folding mat, original
Stakt The Mat
A 69 by 24 inch mat at 12 mm, twice a standard yoga mat, that folds into a 24 by 12 by 3 inch block to kneel on, step on or sit on. Three pounds, EVA foam, a patented fold. It is the mat people buy for the knee padding a board or discs need.

- Stakt
Suits: Mat and sculpt classes, kneeling work on a hard floor, and the pad under a board.
Weigh: No slide and no bands; it does none of the board's job on its own. Stakt says wipe with warm water and a soap without oils, and keep it out of the sun.
Gliding discs have their own floor rules. The foam face is for wood and tile, the plastic face is for carpet, and the plastic face will scratch some hard floors. The AZURELIFE listing says to put a blanket or a mat down first, which is the honest version of the advice.
The knees
Every board kneels you on polypropylene. The makers know this, which is why CroyVine, X-HOBON and the wooden boards ship an EVA knee pad, and why the one sponsored review of the Flo board still called the pad the thing that made tile bearable. If your board comes without one, a folded towel or the folded Stakt is the answer, and a thin pad under the heel of the hand helps the wrists in four-point kneeling.
Shins are the second complaint. The glide pads on the plastic boards are small, and a kneeling pike puts the shin along the edge of the track. A longer session is where it shows; the wooden boards with full-width EVA on the deck are the fix if it bothers you.
The bands
Latex tube bands are consumables. They stiffen, develop a crazed surface, and snap, usually near the carabiner where they flex most. Sun and heat shorten the life; a board left by a window loses its bands first. JANUA buyers report the stretch going after a couple of months of regular use, and replacement bands are sold separately.
Two habits save the trouble. Run a hand along each band before a session and retire one that feels tacky or shows cracks. And buy a kit that states its tension, so the replacement matches: ohkanki’s 20 and 25 lb bands, or any bar kit from ALongSong, Bbtops or Alignrgy, whose bands clip to the same carabiners.

Weigh: ALongSong recommends 5 ft 3 in to 6 ft 1 in. Latex bands wear; check them before each session. No website; figures from the listing.
The elastic rebound cord inside the track is the other wear item, and the one nobody sells a spare for. It is what pulls the glide pads back to the start. When it goes slack, the pads stay where you leave them, which makes the board a plank with a groove and no return. On a plastic board that is the end of the board; on the rail boards the cord is often accessible.
